While Bydgoszcz's waterfront areas are often compared to Venice, Italy, from a different angle you could easily be fooled to think you're on the Mississippi River flowing through New Orleans! Coupled with the city's love of jazz, a place like Restauracja Luizjana makes total sense. With a shopfront location on the main street of old town, down a table-lined alleyway, the repurposed brick interior complete with jazz memorabilia and black-and-white photography is the perfect setting to enjoy creole and cuisine from the multicultural US state of Louisiana.

The bacon-wrapped Voodoo Shrimp starters were chosen more for the name than the description, but were sufficiently packed with flavour (thankfully not too spicey). We chose a Chicken Jalambaya, which typically involves a serve of spiced rice and were not dissapointed!  Lastly, and most importantly, the chef's recommendation: Bourbon-BBQ Slow Cooked Pork Neck sounded rather indulgent, but it's sweet sauce with a bit of bite was unlike anything I had tried in my life. If you're looking for an alternative eat whilst visiting Bydgoszcz, this is where you need to be!
