You Are at the Heart of Change. Surrealism and Anti-Fascism

The idea of surrealism often evokes images of melted clocks, half-hidden faces, and a heavy dose of self-interpretation. But the Museum of Modern Art wants to shine a light on the political side of the popular genre. The side that revolutionized art and fought for freedom. This exhibit dispells notions that surrealism is weird for the sake of being weird, or simply strange and magical, and instead focuses on the surrealists who used their works to combat fascism, for the sake of freedom and free art.
