Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (St. Mary's)

Scan the horizon of the New Town and chances are you’ll find your eyes settling on the Gothic shape of the Church of the Visitation of St Mary. Built in the 15th century on the whim of a Mazovian princess, this brick beauty allegedly stands on the site of an ancient pagan place of worship. The church's most striking characteristic is the tower, built in 1518 and features in many historic panorama paintings of Warsaw. Extensively remodelled over the centuries it was rebuilt true to its original form between 1947-1966 after its destruction in 1944.
