It’s all very Day of the Triffids in Papavero, a lovely little spot that could easily be mistaken for an overgrown garden. Peer beyond the leaves and the cherubs and one finds a fine restaurant, with an enticing menu of hand-made pastas, fish, and meat dishes (including venison) that does just enough to distract diners from engaging in daring flower theft. Try the baked escargot or confit wild boar loin with chestnut puree, scorzonera, mead sauce, walnuts, and roasted buckwheat.
