Despite its slightly haughty name, Fish House Brasserie De Luxe does in fact boast an impressive pedigree, especially given its chef’s exceptional credentials. Jānis Zvirbulis has studied at some of France’s most notable culinary institutions and is now putting that experience into practice at this casual gourmet restaurant in Riga’s city centre. The ambience is elegant, yet playful with unique fish-themed wallpaper and the French-inspired cuisine and seafood is certainly exceptional. If we were to find fault anywhere, it would have to be that far too many mussels were served unopened, which should never occur with such frequency at a restaurant of this calibre. A special breakfast menu is available on Saturdays.
