Riga’s ultra-hip coffee purveyors have some strong competition in Strada. Not only does it offer excellent java brewed in a variety of methods, it’s also the only place in Riga to sell freshly brewed Kopi Luwak (the beans ‘excreted’ by furry critters in Southeast Asia) for a whopping, yet perhaps justified €14. Coffee beans acquired from Starbuck’s are roasted on the premises, hence all of the green, wavy-haired logos about the place, but you can also enjoy an excellent selection of teas if you prefer getting your caffeine via other means. Despite its relatively small size and cutting-edge interior of copper piping and geometric patterns made of wood, Strada has still managed to find space for a fun kids’ corner and a small summer terrace on one of Old Riga’s prettiest streets. Delicious desserts are also on offer.
