This authentic Uzbek restaurant housed in one of the city’s loveliest art nouveau landmarks includes all of the usual Central Asian kitsch including ceramic plates, traditional instruments and figurines of bearded men with watermelons, yet Uzbegims has a much more upmarket feel with gilded dinnerware, expensive Persian rugs and impeccable service by professional staff. The whole gamut of Uzbek cuisine is on offer, but we chose the stuffed aubergines and assorted grilled meat skewers with delicious homemade bread and spicy adjika sauce.
