Clothmakers' Bastion

Originally built in the 15th century by the city's goldsmiths' guild, this impressive bastion, with walls more than two metres thick, was taken over by the clothmakers in 1640. It has survived in relatively good shape, and was fully renovated in 2005. Interior steps and exhibition spaces were added, although there is (as yet) no permanent museum. Instead, the bastion hosts a wide variety of temporary exhibitions.
