History of Pharmacy Museum hero image

Something of a rarity, the History of Pharmacy Museum is in fact a surprisingly real treat. On the site of Romania’s first ever chemist (opened in 1494) the museum houses a collection of centuries-old medicine bottles (almost all of which are amazingly decorative, while some of the ceramics are highly intricate ornaments), medical instruments, documents and diagrams explaining the history of dispensary medicine. Sibiu has a rich history of pioneering pharmacists, although the city also has the dubious distinction of being the sometime home of that quack of all quacks, Samuel Hahnemann, the 'inventor' of homeopathy.
