Royal Crescent hero image

More beautiful architecture. Built in 1774, the Royal Crescent is another piece of John Wood (the Younger) architecture that lights up the eyes of visitors to Bath on a daily basis. Georgian architecture at its finest, this was the first of its kind to be built, an attempt to bring the serenity of country living to the city, with a crescent of houses looking out town on one side and onto a tranquil lawn on the other. Number One Royal Crescent is now a house-museum owned by the city, a glimpse into Georgian domestic life, both above and below the stairs. A Grade I building (that almost goes without saying), the Royal Crescent is an absolutely stunning piece of work.
