Well-located, Cafe Mercato serves Italian-inspired food in a cosy, welcoming setting. It has an uninterrupted view over to the river and outside seating for the summer. Plants and red check tablecloths give it a warm, homely feel. The menu isn't terribly authentic – for example, a Quattro Formaggio pizza comes garnished with baked apple – but it's hearty, and fairly reasonable for Moscow prices. It has an interesting drinks menu, including mulled wine in red, white and rose varieties, and the kitchen is fast even when busy. The atmosphere is relaxed and the playlist is entertainingly Italian.
