Though technically not a garden, we couldn’t not mention this ultra hip green space just a few minutes’ walk away from Moscow’s main artery – Tverskoy Boulevard. Referred to lovingly by the locals as “Patriki”, this is a beautiful green oasis often associated with the name of Russian writer Bulgakov because it is here that his famous novel “Master and Margarita” begins and develops. In summers, the pond provides welcome shade from the sun and is home to a small population of swans and ducks. It is also one of Moscow’s most exclusive areas to live in so there’s no shortage of terrific cafes, bars and restaurants for chilling, people watching or drinking with friends into the wee hours. But don’t start looking for the other ponds because contrary to the name, there’s only one pond!
