Keramarkh. Museum of Ceramics

Many Russians say St. Petersburg does not need a Museum of architecture – just because the city itself is a big exhibition. However, it has something for those who disagree: meet the Keramarkh – the new Museum of Ceramics, which tells about decorative ceramics in the architecture and interior decoration of the 18th – early 20th centuries.
The unique display was collected together with the largest Russian and foreign museums and private collections. These are tiled stoves and fireplaces, ceramic icons, exquisite Dutch tiles, rare examples of the facades of the famous St. Petersburg buildings and even a seven-meter advertising panel with a grotesque composition. Keramarkh has more than 11,000 exhibits of different ages, but only 200 of them are presented to the public now — the rest will be shown at temporary exhibitions.
