This intern school, closely connected to Catherine’s Palace, was originally designed as a school for the younger members of the imperial family so that, as legend has it, the young tsarevichs wouldn’t need to climb the stairs to visit the institution. Nowadays, the Lyceum is most famous as being the place where Russia’s most beloved poet, Alexander Pushkin (who the town is now named after), studied together with other future writers. As Pushkin is the most famous alumnus, exhibits focus primarily on artefacts from his life.
