Snack bar 't Pleintje is a simple chip shop not unlike many others in the Netherlands. The only difference is that there are often long queues here, and not only due to the delicious chips. Visiting Cafetaria 't Pleintje is a kind of pilgrimage for many Dutch and German adolescents as this rectangular box was featured in both of the New Kids movies. Five anti-social loiterers create a completely different picture of this rural district in the films. Naturally 't Pleintje sells de knoepert, a kind of gigantic chicken schnitzel with turbo sauce. Another favourite is the blue and white sticker of Maaskantje, the hamlet which is the setting of the films. It's hard to determine exactly where this place is by the way as the real sign is frequently nicked by vandals and New Kids fans.
