'The Arli' is a great wee pub near Charing Cross. And, being a short walk from many bigger music venues, it makes a great start for a night on the tiles. It may not be beautiful, well decorated, trad, or for that matter particularly appealing at times, but it's a great place to meet people and get the craic. Around for years, it attracts a contrasting clientele of students, workmen, OAPs, rock bands and sports fans - people can see past its faded decor (and those gents toilets). Local musicians always drop by, and some of the jam sessions are stuff of legends. But, be warned, this tiny place can get pretty crowded. Look out for the replica Stone of Destiny, the stone on which all Kings and Queens of Scotland and England are crowned. Legend has it the stone was stashed here for years, after its 'theft' from England. How much truth there is in that is not for us to say, but it's not a bad talking point whilst on your sixth pint.
