Seebad - lake pool

The wooden bathing house on Lake Lucerne, known as Seebad, originally opened its doors over 130 years ago in 1885 and underwent a comprehensive refurbishment in 2010. It is a wooden structure stretching out into the lake. Previously it was divided into two separate bathing houses; the left side was for women and the right side for men. Each side has a shallow pool within the structure containing crystal clear lake water, although most people choose to take the stairs at the far end into the open lake with stunning Alpine views. There are simple yet charming old-style changing cabins surrounding the internal pools and a small restaurant serving snacks, drinks and ice cream. It is renowned with locals for its fine salads; the Greek salad is definitely worth a try as is a tinto de verano (summer wine). They also offer massages, yoga and occasional summer concerts. After 20:00 swimming is prohibited, but it remains open with a relaxed bar vibe. A sunny summer eve spent at Seebad will put you in the holiday mood.
