Originally built in the mid-19th century, it briefly served as a Turkish consulate after the liberation of Niš in 1878, fell into disrepair after the Second World War, finally collapsing in 1995. After being completely rebuilt it opened as a hostel in 2012, and is once again a protected cultural monument. The carved wooden ceilings and other oriental ornamentation has been beautifully recreated, and the whole place does look quite splendid, especially the large veranda, which is perfect for breakfast or socialising during the evening. Accommodation is in 8-bed dorm rooms.
