By train, Sibiu is 315 kilometres from Bucharest. Somewhat surprisingly, the city is not served by any InterCity trains, and just two daily InterRegio trains connect Sibiu with the capital, the quickest of which takes a shocking five hours and 25 minutes. The timetable is online here.

Much quicker is the plane, yet Tarom operates just one flight per day to and from Bucharest, a one-way ticket costing from €75. Sibiu is also well-connected by air to Munich (two flights per day), Vienna (daily), Stuttgart and Madrid (two-three flights per week).
