Ohrid

Ohrid     more than a year ago
If you’ve ever visited Skopje during the summer and wondered where everybody was, the answer is Ohrid. Claiming the impressively rare title of UNESCO World Heritage Site for both its culture and its nature, Macedonia’s foremost leisure capital offers visitors not only the chance to mess about on one of Europe’s oldest and deepest lakes, it also boasts several historical sights that are worth the air fare alone. Less than 200km from the capital and right on the edge of the awesome Galičica National Park, Ohrid’s diminutive dimensions make it a friendly destination for those who can’t be bothered to travel large distances to experience lots of culture whilst also serving as a potential base for adventures further afield.
