Devín Castle

Once a majestic 9th century fortress, Devín Castle now lies ruined some 212 metres above the city. The ideological Iron Curtain ran in front of it all the way up until the death of communism, and the castle was almost immediately demilitarised. The views are excellent, but it is the intangible sense of history that really attracts.
