With its wealth of cultural, historical and natural sights, Kranj's culinary offering often gets overlooked, but the city's restaurants and cafés are reason enough to visit. Of course it all begins with the famous 'Kranjska Klobasa' sausage, which no trip is complete without trying, and Gostišče Arvaj or Stari Mayr are both great options for doing so, while non-meat eaters should head to Gostišče Kot to sample the local version of Slovene cheese dumplings known as štruklji. Kranj now also boasts its own local microbrewery, so make sure to order a pint of Kranjsko pivo when you're ready to relax a bit after an active day of sightseeing.
