Povodni Mož [CLOSED]

We'll be honest, we've been waiting for more than half a decade to write about this small local pub, because we'd (selfishly) wanted to keep at least one place in the city ourselves. But alas, the time has finally come to give it the public recommendation that we've long been giving our visiting friends. Owned by a former professional diver, it appropriately shares a name with France Prešeren's three-part ballad 'Water Man'. One of the highlights here is the large creaky wooden terrace in the back, which juts out over the Ljubljanica river and is covered in various types of foliage, while inside there's an ample smoking room and sturdy stone walls covered in an assortment of aquatic and medieval paraphernalia. Friendly service and low prices round things out at one of our favourite watering holes.
