Authenticity is something that Safran has in spades, taking its name from the owner's hometown of Safranbolu near Turkey's Black Sea coast. The place is not only exceedingly popular with the Turkish community in Ljubljana, but also has Turkish staff in the kitchen, a couple of whom happen to be old friends of ours. If that's not enough to convince you to drop by for a meal, rest assured that the food itself is excellent, especially if you love succulent meat grilled to perfection. There's a large selection of traditional Turkish starters, soups, salads and (mostly meat) main dishes. Just makes sure to save room for the obligatory baklava and Turkish coffee, or kumda kahve, for dessert.
