Despite Velenje's cultural and demographic ties to the former Yugoslav states, Gostilna Sonce is somewhat surprisingly one of the only Balkan restaurants around. Located in the immediate vicinity of several other eateries in the tiny old town, Sonce is distinguishable from the rest by the smells of smokey goodness wafting out of its chimney. Meat-lovers should come here hungry for plates heaped with all sorts of expertly grilled meats, while vegetarians will likely want to seek sustenance elsewhere.
