As Sofia becomes ever more attractive also for the younger, more budget conscious traveller so too is there an increase in hostel accommodation. Often slightly older, run down apartments and houses mainly in the city centre have been spruced up and turned into arty, friendly hostels for those who don't mind sharing room and bathroom with other travellers.
