The sign outside proudly declares that they bake "the best croissants in Africa". We don't know about the rest of the continent, but they aren't at all bad. Whether you want a simple pastry or bacon and eggs, you can't knock the value here as breakfast with coffee and a juice clocks up to around R50. The music is good old-fashioned 1960s folk from Bob, Janis and the gang and the interior is time-worn and unpretentious with posters of the motherland on the walls, effortlessly transporting you back to those simpler times of family-run neighbourhood cafes. This lovely spot is also dog-friendly, so bring your pooch on a leash for a true Joburg adventure.
