This smart stop in bustling Rosebank is one of the biggest hotels in the precinct with more than 300 rooms and excellent conferencing facilities. Formerly known as the Crown Plaza, in 2019 it closed for an extensive renovation, and had the misfortune of hosting its grand relaunch in February 2020. The new renovation focused especially on revamping the dining venues and opening out the huge lobby into a stylish multifunctional space with work stations, lounging areas, a new look bar and casual meeting pods.
Through the first year of the pandemic the Southern Sun Rosebank has opened and closed several times and when we visited (May 2021) they were preparing to become a bubble venue for visiting PSL soccer teams and after that for the Springboks national rugby team.
The comfortable bedrooms are perfect for party people with a ‘sleep floor’ where housekeeping services rooms on a later schedule than usual. Pure genius.
