The eye-catching Soweto Theatre building with its curved, colourfully tiled facade, opened in 2012 as a space for Soweto's burgeoning music and performing arts scenes. Mainly used for concerts and poetry recitals, the theatre also stages plays produced by local writers. With spectacular architecture and acoustics the Soweto Theatre houses three performance venues and offers a regular events programme that includes the monthly Soweto Art and Craft Fair held at the theatre's outdoor amphitheatre on the first Saturday of every month.
