Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art

  VO, 29-ya linya 2 ,   Vasilievsky Island          (+7) 812 324 08 09     18 Apr 2018
The Erarta museum is the biggest private contemporary museum in Russia and definitely one of its most exciting. The spectacularly restored five story building is separated into two parts – one a gallery where the works are for sale and the other a museum tracing the history of Russian modern art of the last 60 years. Some of the works and installations on display are truly monumental in size and will leave anyone interested in new Russian art swooning. The passionate curators are constantly updating their collection by travelling across Russia to find unknown future stars and track down old favourites from all periods and streams of the Russian contemporary movement. Currently they have around 2300 works so make sure you give yourself some time.
