Peterhof is located about 30km west of St. Petersburg on the Finnish gulf. An excursion out to Peterhof, especially in summer, is always one of the most memorable parts of any trip to St. Petersburg. It's beautiful, it's saturated with history and it's awe-inspiring. The most famous site of the Peterhof ensemble is the Grand Palace which is surrounded by fountains. In the grounds of the palace there are also numerous smaller museums and within the town of Peterhof itself there are plenty of other interesting historical sites.
