Hailed as the new sushi (it's healthy, aesthetic and has complex flavours), we're delighted to report the arrival of Peruvian ceviche in Lucerne. We discovered this raw fish marinated with citrus fruits, chilli and coriander served with sweet potato and corn at Pikante, a Peruvian restaurant, which has an excellent chef from Lima. Our evening started with a complimentary appetiser followed by a shared ceviche starter. It was so tender, it literally melted in our mouths. The serving sizes are decent and have a pleasant spiciness. For mains we ordered the delicately seasoned sudado de pescado, a kind of fish stew and causa, which is mashed potato covered in tuna fish and prawns with a yellow aji pepper sauce. We washed them down with a passion fruit pisco sour and a Cusqueno beer. If you love Peruvian food like we do, or if you're just curious about new tastes and flavours, then Pikante is well worth a visit.
