Haldenegg (formerly known as restaurant 8001) creates a modern take on Swissness beyond the standard cowshed atmosphere that you find in many other places. This is achieved with black and white photos of a mountain tour and everyday life in an alpine hut on turquoise walls, as well as booths with sky-high backrests for privacy and and small tables with wooden chairs. The menu lists classics like fondue and Zürcher geschnetzeltes with rösti, not to mention more contemporary fare like raclette crostini. We ordered the Swiss alpine burger, which came with ham from the Grison Alps, mountain herbs and raclette cheese, a flavourful way to experience modern Swiss cuisine.
