Idaplatz

A little off the beaten tourist track, Idaplatz is one of our favourite squares in town. It's located in walking distance of the eastern end of Langstrasse (tram No 2 direction Farbhof, get off at Lochergut). A few trees and benches makes it a relaxing spot without any traffic. In the evening people from the neighbourhood come out for a drink or to play some pétanque on the sandy surface of the square. For drinks and food, there are two bars and a lovely restaurant with outdoor seating in the buildings surrounding the square. For food we recommend Restaurant Piazza (Idaplatz 2, +41 44 558 95 29). If you are just after a cold beer, you can get quite cheap ones at the kiosk on the corner of the square.
