Noir

In recent years French steaks, or entrecotes, have enjoyed a real renaissance in Zurich and Noir is yet another establishment specialising in these juicy pieces of beef. Here the meat comes with the restaurant's own interpretation of the classic Café de Paris butter sauce and a réchaud has been built into each table to ensure your meat stays warm. Our steak was cooked medium rare, exactly as ordered, and the sauce was buttery, but not too heavy. All-you-can-eat French fries can also be had as well as a salad to begin your dining experience. The tables, leather benches, golden réchauds, lamps and napkin rings all make you feel like you've been transported to a refined, trés elegant brasserie in Paris. Luckily, our waiter also had a cheeky sense of humour, which put us at ease and his professionalism made up for his assistant, who seemed a little overwhelmed at times.
