Rivalling St. John's Church as Tartu's most imposing and impressive, St. Peter's is a red-bricked, pseudo-Gothic gem that's definitely worth the short trip over the river to see. It was built in 1884, and features a vast nave wrapped in two levels of galleries, allowing it to seat up to 3,000 people. The large altar painting was created by Estonia's seminal artist, Johann Köler, in 1897.
