People have defending these parts since way before ol’ JC was born in miraculous fashion, with the earliest records at Alvor coming from the 7th century BC. The fort has been smashed and smashed and smashed in the centuries since, but the simplicity enforced each time made replicating it an easy task, so we’re lucky enough to see this as it largely has been. This is yet another architecturally time machine in the Algarve.
