Theodor Aman Museum

  Str. C.A. Rosetti 8 ,   Piata Revolutiei          (+4) 021 314 58 12     more than a year ago

This lovely, centrally-located house is one of the finest remaining old residences in Bucharest, although blink and you will miss it, hemmed in as it is by tall blocks. Built in 1868 as a home and studio by painter Theodor Aman it includes a vast number of Aman's work: the many murals and frescoes are not the least of these. Founder of the first arts school in Wallachia, Aman had a complex personality, which is reflected in every detail of the house. Look out too for the exterior decorations, the work of sculptor Karl Storck. One of Bucharest's oldest museums, this place has been welcoming visitors since 1908. A charming place, and really something of a must.
