Peek over the fence to view the large 1970s villa once inhabited by dictator Enver Hoxha, filled with Western luxuries and books that were unknown and strictly forbidden for everyone else in Albania. Already surrounded by new highrises and thumping clubs, this monster's lair has finally been dragged into modern times by its recent conversion into a centre for art and experimentation, with local and international artists inhabiting the building for 3-month residencies - keeping the 1970s style and furnishings intact. Keep an eye open for exhibition announcements.
