Tirana existed and grew under Ottoman rule for 500 years. For lovers of Ottoman architecture however, the news isn’t good. A great many of the city’s original Ottoman-era buildings were destroyed by Mussolini and Hoxha, and, except for the structures listed below, little of the original Ottoman city exists.
