A cultural space rather than a museum, this is where the great Albanian writer Ismail Kadare lived and worked between 1974 and his departure to Paris in 1990. There’s some information about his life, much of it in Albanian, and you can view his study and original bookcase (complete with a collection of his pipes) - the friendly staff are at hand to explain. The building is known as the Cubist Flat, designed by architect Max Velo in 1972, who tried to bring modern styles to Albania, and risked getting into serious trouble by doing so.
