Café Sperl first opened in 1880 and has been a hit amongst the locals ever since. It became the preferred stomping grounds for many singers, artists, writers, architects, generals and public officials, despite the usual political and social differences in the artistic and military/public sectors. The pool tables also set Café Sperl apart from other coffeehouses, and the cakes are to die for. The café also has an extensive international newspaper selection.
