City Hotels Algirdas

Algirdo 24     more than a year ago

Located inside a grand-looking building close to the action and tantalisingly near to a clutch of superb Chinese restaurants and a 24-hour supermarket, the Algirdas boasts everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The well appointed rooms all come with en suite facilities, wireless internet and a choice of extras according to price including refrigerators and kettles in the deluxe rooms. The in-house restaurant also churns out a menu of better than average food plus the staff on reception are extremely helpful when it comes to getting hold of things generally difficult to find.

This small good-value hotel is located in a restored early twentieth century building situated on the east side of the Old Town about a fifteen minute walk to the centre. The area felt safe even late at night and there are a number of Chinese restaurants and a very handy 24 hour Maxima supermarket in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Other than a small cafe-bar directly opposite there appeared to be few if any bars around and the area was mostly residential and therefore quiet.I arrived by train and the walk from the railway station took about 15 minutes so if you've got heavy luggage it's probably worth getting a taxi ditto for the coach station which is located next door to the railway station . Staff throughout the hotel were pleasant and efficient and were happy to give map directions to points of interest. The rooms were clean fairly large had big windows which opened and very high ceilings. The rooms and the hotel were maintained to a high standard. Breakfast was basic but adequate and taken in the hotel's small French style restaurant.Bearing in mind the price I paid I really can't thing of anything bad to say about this hotel so I certainly recommend it to anyone planning to spend a few days in Vilnius but who wanted a little more local charm and character then they'd get from the international chain hotels in the city centre or the business district. Definitely consider it.

Great value for money especially considering that 24 hour wi-fi is only 5Lt and free in the lobby! Breakfast is spartan though.
