Not too far from the village of Žlijeb is a true mystery, a piece of the natural world that features the unmistakable touch of human art. Known locally as the Pisana Stijena (Written Rock, essentially), this cliff-face has a number of medieval inscriptions on it that are extremely curious to say the least, with many of them resembling birds, crosses, and other hooked images.
