A wonderful spectacle of socialist realist architecture. Designed by Jankowski, Knothe, Sigalin and Stępiński, Pl. Konstytucji was projected to be an ‘expression of creative optimism and peaceful work within the socialist system.' Officially christened on July 22, 1952, the square was originally intended to serve as a focal point for all state parades. Dominated by three monumental street lamps, things get even better along the tail end of Marszałkowska where socialist reliefs line the street.
