Best Breakfast & Brunch Spots in Belgrade

more than a year ago

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Who are they? We've got no idea. And is it actually true? According to WebMD the jury is still out. However, there's no denying the fact that in Belgrade breakfast has become more and more popular in recent years, or at least that's what our Instagram feed would have us believe. In any event, below you can find our favourite spots for breakfast and brunch in the Serbian capital. Prijatno and happy Instagramming! #breakfast #brunch #bloodymary

Red Bread

After all the meat and carbs that Serbian food has to offer, if you are craving a cleanse of sorts, make sure to visit Red Bread. As could be concluded from the name, their best seller are the various sandwiches they make with their home made sun dried tomato bread. They ensure that their ingredients are organic and fresh, which is evident from the flavour and quality of their food. They also offer smoothies and juices, perfect thirst quenchers in the summer. This type of restaurant is a rare occurrence in Belgrade, as there is no inside smoking,

Belgrade Art Hotel

Belgrade Art Hotel is located in the center of Belgrade and it has the privilege of being the only hotel in the capital’s main street, in the pedestrian zone of Knez Mihailova. Your stay at Belgrade Art Hotel will give you the opportunity to explore the most attractive parts of the city by foot, and the absence of vehicles guarantees a peaceful night. As stated in the very name of the hotel, their concept revolves around art. The art of design, the art of gratifying their guests, and just a touch of modern art. All this is weaved into the fine details of your stay in the hotel. Recommended.

Kozmetičar

Packed full of old furniture and feeling for all the world like someone’s living room, Kozmetičar is as mellow as cafes get in the city. The first thing you’ll notice is the colour, a vibrant shot of piquancy that bucks the trend of functionality that permeates the rest of Vračar. The garden is a delightful place to spend an afternoon during those warmer months, although it does negate the place as one of the best places for digital nomads to type the day away. Procrastination is an enticing temptress after all.

Smokvica

We should say right up front that we love this place. What started as just an outdoor summer terrace hidden away in a charming courtyard in the Dorćol neighbourhood of old Belgrade, now has seven venues across the city. However each location brings with it the distinctive Smokvica charm. The food ranges from wraps and burgers, to salads and stakes, with a particular list of pressed fresh juices and refreshments. Which ever site you decide to visit, you will not leave disappointed.

Tribeca

Named for the famed district in New York's lower Manhattan (which is an abbreviation of 'Triangle below Canal Street' if you were wondering), Belgrade's Tribeca offers an expectedly sophisticated dining experience in the heart of town. The menu is quite extensive, offering everything from mouthwatering meats to filling salads, and the wine list also conveniently offers a huge selection of vintages available by the glass - great for pairing with different dishes. If possible leave room for the delectable desserts!

Moskva

This elegant hotel on Terazije Square is one of the symbols of Belgrade. The Art Nouveau building was constructed in 1907 and is now a protected building. The rooms are furnished with authentic period furniture and an impressive collection of paintings. It is also the only hotel outside Russia which bears the name 'Moscow'. For many Belgraders, the café on the ground level is a favourite venue for a meeting over coffee and some of the famous cakes, and it's also one of our go-to spots for taking out of town friends to breakfast.
