Burgas Lakes

share
Many people probably do not realise what a natural gem the Burgas lakes are, how vital they are to the city, the country and what exciting opportunities they present for the development of ecotourism in the region. This is currently being addressed with the assistance of EU funding: www.burgaslakes.org
There are three lakes surrounding Burgas; Lake Atanasov to the north of the city, Lake Vaya(also referred to as Lake Burgas) to the west and Lake Mandra on which the Poda nature reserve is situated, is to the southwest. All three lakes play a vital role in the prosperity of the region as well as an important part in the migration of the birds from Europe. Nature lovers can enjoy excellent birdwatching at all three.
