Belgrade's Best Cafés for Coffee

more than a year ago
Serbians are big fans of coffee. If you ever visit a Serbian home, chances are you'll be offered coffee before you have a chance to take a seat. In fact, for any Serb a daily chat and gossip with friends is almost unimaginable without the stuff! While most home brew is still of the Turkish variety, in recent years Belgrade's coffee scene has improved by leaps and bounds when it comes to more contemporary coffee culture, and those cafés listed below are the best of the best.

CoffeeRoom

A frequent place for shorter business meetings, light lunches (sandwiches and salads), but primarily for enjoying a great coffee.

Pržionica

If you're experiencing culture shock with all the smoking indoors, this coffee roastery is an ideal place for you to enjoy a cup of great coffee, without the fumes.

Aviator

The name conjures up images of intrepid cosmonauts in search of all things caffeine, but you will find a down to earth mood and plenty of excellent caffeine at one of the many locations throughout the city.

Zoom Art Café & Photo Studio

The upper level is given over to the gallery, while the ground floor is awash with artists and everyday folk sipping coffee, tea, cocktails and the rest. If the question is ‘how much art can be stashed into a cafe?’, the answer can be found at Zoom.

Koffein

Everything from bog standard coffee to fancy modern brews can be ordered, including an espresso-type concoction that comes in a champagne chute.

Kafeterija

Here you can buy the beans to take away, but we wholeheartedly recommend settling in for a long afternoon with some of the best coffee in town.
