The Museum got his name after the famous painter and academic Paja Jovanović, who bestowed his inheritance to the Museum of Belgrade in 1952. The Museum was opened in 1969. Artist’s Vienna painting studio and some of the stylish furniture are partially reconstructed in the Museum. The collection hold exceptional number of artwork created during several decades of XIX and XX century. Permanent exhibition serves as a proof of the surroundings in which the artistic act was unfolding. According to the artist’s choice, almost all subjects are shown – landscape, portrait, historic composition, genre painting, still life, mythological and religious compositions, illustrations, nudes.
