A short trip near the city is always a great idea if you’re in the mood for some special activities, you want to learn more about the country’s cultural heritage or you’re simply looking to spend more time in nature.
To help you with your quick getaway, we’ve made a list of Five Must-See Attractions near Bucharest that you can visit without spending too much time on the road.


Therme Bucuresti
Maybe the most popular attraction near Bucharest, Therme is the biggest wellness, relaxation and entertainment centre in Europe. Located just 10 minutes away from the city, this ideal family destination has pools, saunas and water slides along with the largest botanical garden in Romania. You can easily spend a whole day here relaxing under the palm trees, getting a massage or chilling at the different bars, no matter the season. There are also areas for adults only, so you can enjoy some peace and quiet if you want.

Mogosoaia Domain and Palace
A favourite amongst locals and tourists as well, Mogosoaia is located about 10 km away from Bucharest’s city centre and it’s the perfect destination if you want to enjoy some fresh air. The main attraction is the Palace that today hosts the Brancovenesc Art Museum, a beautiful building built at the end of the 17th-century by ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu. There’s also a restaurant and a big park situated alongside a lake, where you can have a picnic or take a long walk with your family.

Edenland Park Balotesti
Families with children will love this adventure park situated in the south-western part of Snagov Park, just 20 minutes away from the city. With activities such as archery, a climbing wall, horse riding, paintball, height jumping and 12 tree tracks, it’s impossible not to find something you’ll love here. You can also rent bikes, and if you get hungry, there’s also a restaurant and some food cabins serving delicious takeaway food. If you want to spend a magical night under the moon light, you can have the unique experience of renting a tree house at Edenland.

Stirbey Domain and Palace
Open to public only on the weekends, you can arrive at the Stirbey Domain in half an hour from Bucharest. This place is known for hosting the Summer Well music festival every year in August, but admiring the Neo-gothic architecture of the Ştirbey Palace is definitely a good reason to pay a visit any time of the year. While you’re there, you can take a walk in the domain’s gardens by the lake or enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant on the estate. There are also some special activities like horse-riding and balloon flights, but you have to book them in advance.

Snagov Natural Park
If you want to escape the noise of the city, the Snagov area is the ideal place for you. This National protected wild area has a beautiful lake and a forest, where you can take a walk among old trees, admire the water lilies and feel like you’re part of a fairy tale. You can also see the the Snagov Palace in the area, a former royal palace on the shore of Lake Snagov that you need special approval to visit.
